Click Bait

They are a nuissance but I put up with them and ignore them. I don't use adblockers as they significantly lower the income of some of the sites I visit regularly.

if you want free news then someone has to pay for it - the daily fail seems to like ads, fox news website has plenty of full on click bait, the guardian on the other hand is trying to solicit donations and the telegraph has gone for a partly free model where you're limited on the number of stories

the times on the other hand has rejected free news and hidden itself behind a pay wall

it is also annoying that popular figures on facebook are spamming their feeds with this stuff - George Takei used to be a fun person to follow, now he's pretty much just monetising his page by spamming his feed with click bait. Fortunately people do seem to rebel against this by clarifying in the comments what the article is about (which tends to be voted to the top).

Not sure I'd say significantly as impressions don't pay nearly as much as if you actually click.

Although I have a Google ads background. Not sure how much you get paid for impressions with these clickbait advertisers.

I clicked this thread title expecting it to be clickbait. And it wasn't. But by not being what I expected I guess it was....

The only click baits I ever click on are thing like 'Photographer can't believe his luck at cheerleader rally!' and '13 times celebrities exposed a little too much!'

You get the idea...

What i also freaking hate is "Faith in humanity restored" stories... I mean even BBC got on that train. Stellar reporting.

I completely agree. Or these... "Oooo look at what I'm doing" things. I recently saw one which was a couple converting an old school bus and touring The Americas with it. Yes that is amazing, but I don't like the slick edited video telling me this is amazing and how awesome something is. **** off!!

I actually get angry at these useless excuses for advertising.

If you're in Swansea you'll see the "Swansea man makes hundreds per hour with this simple trick..." yet you login from New York and it's the same man. Either it's a con (obviously) or the man stalks me :p

Agree, some woman in 'local town' found an amazing ppi trick.
Well i figure that constitutes an abuse of advertising, and as such the asa should look at toobola and associated scum and burn the eyes and hearts from anyone they employ.

Just downloaded ublock for my Samsung s7edge and it makes so much difference! I can't even see those horrible ads. It's when they splash them half way down the page that grinds me
