Hi,

Recently, any in-browser video or textbox that I try to use I have to click it to activate it. When, I hover over the box or video the border becomes gray and the mouse has a little text box that says "Click to Activate this window". Its not really an extra step from before it happened but it irritates me.

Anyone know how to get rid of it. I can get a screen shot if needed

Thanks

It was a change made by a recent hot fix sent out via Windows Update. Basically Microsoft got sued by a company called Eolas. They hold a patent on the concept of web pages containing automatically executed embedded elements (like Flash, and ActiveX controls.)

Microsoft had to implement the change but luckily they've put in a workaround (that avoids the patent conflict.) Sadly it's a case of waiting for web developers to update their pages with this workaround.

So everyone is experiancing this problem? Man, that is just so irritating. Like I said its not really an extra step but I hate hovering over something and seeing the message and the border.

Well, at least its not some spyware type stuff that I cant get rid of.

Thanks for the help

Or when you come across a site that Firefox can't render correctly?
That's still the only time I have to revert to IE. Though more often than not, if I find a site that wont display in FF, I ditch it and find another one. Odeon cinema have actually lost custom from me because the other cinema near here has a website that works in FF :o

I use IE only to run the windows update. Like as posted above if a site dont work right in firefox i use another site. And yes the Odeon site is shocking.

That's pathetic, I'm sorry.. how can you ditch a company because its website doesn't work in you preferred browser?

Fanboys huh?

heh, yeah, I'm a fanboy. Convenience is the answer to your question - it's a lot quicker booking online for one place than it is phoning up the other.

I tried FF for a short while and didnt really get anything out of it that I dont get out of IE. I think the only advantage I found was the tabbing but I rarely have many Internet windows open at one time anyways.
