Evening all,

Over the past couple of days my secondary storage drive has started to click on boot and fails to load, I've got a spare HDD which I can swap in but what I'm wondering is can I just transfer the files over and use the new drive as if it were the old one? Sort of like cloning it? And then continuing to use the drive in place of the old one.

Cheers

Edit: Seem to have found a solution (I think)

you can use cloning software to clone the current HDD but if I was you get any data you cannot afford to use or don't have a backup off it asap before the drive gives up completely.

you can use the windows 7 software to clone the drive or you can use Macrium Reflect

guide here

the guide is to clone a HDD to a SSD but you can just use a normal HDD in its place
