Clicky keyboard?

Hi all,

Looking for recommendations for a new gaming keyboard. What's important to me is the feel of the keypress. It's something that the listed specs are always vague about...what the hell is "Hyperesponse Gaming Key Action" or "PerfectStroke™"

I have mastered the "PerfectStroke™", and it's nothing to do with keyboards!;)

My first preference is for something very "clicky" like the old IBM model M. I know you can get the Das Keyboard, but they're very expensive when you factor in shipping costs. Are there any more readily available keyboards with a similar feel, or something approaching it? Maybe that wouldn't be great for gaming anyway - does anyone have any experience here?

Failing that, I like the exact opposite - laptop-style, flat, low movement.

Can anyone recommend any gaming keyboards which fit one of these criteria? Preferably fairly reasonably priced?

Thanks for any help,

DF

Update on the thermaltake ttesport challenger series boards, got a reply from sales which I was kind of surprised about.

"Right now our products are doing the final adjustment and will be going to hit the market at the beginning of June.

We are really appreciated that you like the Keyboards because we put a lots of effort on it. On the marketing site, we are going to host a lot of events, and

Also doing a lots sponsorship for teams.

Our MSRP price is:
Challenger: €45.00
Challenger Pro: €65.00"

Not bad price for a tactile keyboard with a fan and gaming lay out, they look pretty nice in my opinion, just need to find out if they are going to have a UK distributer / seller.

Hi all,

Why not try to locate a refurbished genuine IBM Model M or a used one and give it a clean up? As long as the springs are OK it will clean up and "click" as good as new, they built em proper in those days. There are a few still floating about on the web.

Mechanical boards ain't cheap, the cheapest are the Unicomp and ABS and you'll have to import both of them. For something more tuned for gaming look at the Filco Majestouch with black cherry switches, Steeelseries 7G or Deck Legend, all of which are £90+
