now goto the properties of his modem/lan adapter, find the network client service and click uninstall. reboot when done.

It ain't there, tried from registry, but still same thing.

Which Welcome screen is he missing ?

Start|Control Panel|User Accounts|Change The Way Users Log on Or Off.
Or,
Start|Run nusrmgr.cpl

The standard blue welcome screen. It doesn't come up to that when he boots to Windows, he get's the little box type of screen where you enter password and away you go.

When he goes to that, and clicks the option to change way users log on and off, that client netware stuff asks him to uninstall, when he already has done that!
