Clio 172/182s - Petrol Consumption?

Reset the trip counter.

Drive the car.

Fill the car back up again.

Use the exact amount you had to put in to get back to full, and the distance travelled, to calculate fuel economy :)
 
The clio is a light car, i see no reason why if you sat at 60 for a long trip you wouldn't get over 45mpg.

My Rover is rated at 45mpg @ 56mph and thats a low compression turbo engine.

Some of us don't have the time or the inclination to do that Fox, for me the trip is good enough, if you or any other member doen't want to believe it, it really doesn't make a jot of difference :D. I think Gilly and I were keen to help rather then debate fuel economy to the nearest picolitre

possibly, but in the smallest of remotest chances. Youve got a better chance of winnning the lottery. since the pump-despenced readings have to tally up with what goes in the tanks, if its off they know about it.
 
I struggle to get over 25/28mpg during sensible town driving and over 30mpg during sensible motorway driving from a C4 VTS. These things drink it.
 
Thanks for all the replies. Definately one for the future shopping list when the cav becomes uneconomical to run in a year or two's time :)

Lol, my trip computer has never varied from 36 mpg in the year and a half I've had it! I personally would take what the trip on a the clio's say with a bucket load of salt.

I worked it out a few times when I first got the car and it was always around the 30 mark.

But who cares TBH, it a hot hatch! YOU DON'T BUY ONE FOR THE FUEL CONSUMPTION!

Indeed not - but I do somewhere in the region of 25,000 miles a year (with no fuel card) for my job, and it would be my only car. So although I'd want a performance and handling step up over my cavalier, fuel consumption is an issue.

Especially when petrol is at it's current price, and the difference between 25mpg average (306 GTi6 consumption - what I thought the Clio might be like) and 35mpg average (which the clio, luckily for me seems to be) would be somewhere in the region of £1000-1500 expenditure per year.
 
I would not personally buy a clio sport if your going to be doing a lot of motorway driving. Don't get me wrong I love mine, but it is not the most comfortable car for long distance driving.

I find mine very comfy and I am very fat :)

Maybe this cushions my bum a bit :s

That mileage isn't actually very many motorway miles. Perhaps 10-15% is on dual carriageways. Most of it is A/B roads, and I spend probably an average of 3 or 4 hours driving every week day.
