Hi All,

So I clipped a parked cars wing mirror this morning, just got that bit "too close" as a school bus was coming the other way, with the gift of hindsight I should have just stopped and given way to the bus ;)

Small chip out of my wing mirror, feel a bit guilty that I didn't stop, does this make me a bad person/ am I going straight to Hell?

Well if you broke the other guys mirror casing it could be a £30 scrappy job if he knows what he's doing but a newer car with lights and such in it might cost someone much more to get it replaced at a garage/dealer.

If it was only low speed I wouldn't feel too guilty, if you smacked it off it's post then god help you :D

The wife did this year's ago. She was mortified, stopped and left details on a note as there was no one around, the car she clipped was parked outside a church ( did no damage to the other cars mirror apart from knock it out of its mounting point - divine intervention maybe? :p ).

Despite leaving her contact details she never heard anything more about it.

Straight to hell, do not pass go and do not collect £200... how do you sleep at night :P In all seriousness I would probably have done the same in your position :D

If some one hit my wing mirror and left details i doubt i would call. Its one of those things you expect to happen and are cheap to fix when the time comes.

It's happened to me so many times in the lorries and vans (trees, people coming the other way too far over) that the first time I happened to me in the Astra I wasn't that bothered for a few seconds till it sunk in.

I'm glad i don't have to worry about this. Most cars wing mirrors are in line with my roof.

But, I'd say as long as nothing fell off and you didn't hit it too hard then I wouldn't be stopping.

Someone smacked mine as he/she (can't remember) drove by parked cars and I was waiting. Didn't stop and tbh I just went on my merry way. Did take me 6 months to find a replacement indicator for it though, 30 quid rather than 60 (dealer price which really offended me for some reason)

Slight bonus in that the auto folding mechanism had been getting a bit slow on that side but to this day is back in sync with the neat side mirror

I can't remember the last time I clipped one but if I did I'd stop. Do unto others & all that.

I have had two wing mirror incidents in 11 years, one I tried to find the owner, no one knew, so I left my number on a piece of paper on the windscreen. Never heard back. The second was on a narrow bridge, the guy coming the other way was well over the centre line and took my mirror right off. He didn't stop and I nearly got killed trying to retrieve the pieces!

Yes, I'd stop and have done in the past.

I'd hope for (but not expect) the same were somebody to hit mine.
