We've had Creative Soundworks 740 as Clock Radios for years, but the screen is failing.

Looking to replace it. I'm sure many just use their phone. But if you do use one, what one do you use and/or like?

I use an Echo Dot clock. Its set to turn on light, Wake me with alarm, give weather and travel info then plays the radio.

Pretty much the same, I use my phone if i need to know the time (I dont like a lit up clock in the room) but have a google thingy in the room which does the alarm, lights and a reminder alarm....I'm lazy ok.

My son uses his Echo for the same stuff but his is much louder but has too much bass for my liking.

Ruark R1 - unfortunately you have to pay a premium if you want decent sound quality from an alarm clock radio. Previously had a Roberts Sound 48 and tried a Pure Siesta but despite costing over £100 they still sounded tinney and cheap, the Ruark is in a different league but it is another £100.

That does look amazing. But I think it's more than I was planning to spend.
Yeah to be honest it was considerably more than I was looking to spend but having tried the recommended options for ~£100 and being totally disappointed with the sound quality I bit the bullet. If it's going to be the main sound source in your bedroom and you want to be able to *enjoy* listening to music then I'd try to find the extra, I also use it via Bluetooth when streaming video as it sounds 10x better than my tablets audio. You could maybe take advantage of the rainforest places 30 days returns to trial one and see if you feel you could justify the price.

The other option would be to use your phone / tablet with a decent Bluetooth speaker, something like the JBL Flip 6 for ~£100, not as good looking or convenient as the Ruark but a definite improvement in sound quality over any dedicated clock radios you'll get for that price.

This isn't for me but the other half, and they won't use their phone like that. I've tried and they won't. Having better audio is a nice to have, but not critical. I did find the JVC RD-D80 which is the most similar to the Creative 740 with two alarms and various settings. But its bigger. Too big I reckon. Then there's the Tivoli Audio systems. Did anyone try them. The alarm seems too simple though.

I use an Ikea Symfonisk (part of their Sonos compatible range) for my alarm, like others here I don't want an illuminated clock in the room and I cannot read the display without my glasses. The Sonos alarm allows an infinite number of alarm settings, length of alarm, and almost unlimited number of radio stations.
