Evening guys, I am looking to upgrade my SSD to one of them new flashy nvme SSDs.
My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £148.68
(includes shipping: £8.70)
Now i know that i will probably hit some speed bumps.
At the moment i am rocking a Z87 Gigabyte OC board which does not have native PCIe support for AHCI let alone the newer nvme so i am planning on grabbing the ASUS adapter for it.
I am wondering if i can just use Samsung migration software or Macrium Reflect to clone my current SSD to this new one. I am afraid that it might not recognise the destination drive or that i cant clone an AHCI SSD to a nvme one.
could anyone shed any light on the process?
Worst comes to worst i can always do a fresh install but that is a pain since my current install is a windows 8.1 upgrade from 7 and windows kicks up a fuss if i don't install win7 then upgrade to 8.1 (i also cant remember my old win7 version so following that process will likely waste my time).
My basket at Overclockers UK:
- 1 x Samsung SM951 256GB M.2 PCI-e 3.0 x 4 NVMe Solid State Drive (MZVPV256HDGL-00000)= £119.99
- 1 x Asus Hyper M.2 X4 PCI-E Mini Adapter Card - Black PCB= £19.99
Total: £148.68
