I made a new boot drive from my raid 0 drives last night, disconnected them and left the new one in and booted no problem. Was just a test to see how easy it was, as I will be moving to 2 new drives soon.

Do you still have the original drive plugged in as well?

Start again with the partition copy and next time remove the original Windows boot drive before attempting to boot again?

do both drives have to wd the old one is the new one is samsung

It does not matter as long as a Western Digital drive is connected via SATA or USB or whatever.

You can always give Clonezilla a go if you are still stuck?

I use Norton Ghost for this, I found the control settings quite simple to get used to, however most people quite rightly also use Acronis true image.
