I've just completed cloning my system disk from an IDE Maxtor to a SATA Seagate. Everything seems to have gone OK but my new SATA drive is labelled F:\ (Disk 0) and my old C:\drive remains unchanged except that its become Disk 1.

I've changed the boot order in BIOS to boot from the Seagate and this appears to work but I can't changed the old Maxtor from C:\ to F:\ as Windows will not allow me to change this as it contains the master boot record. It will allow me to change the Seagate from F:\ to any of the unused letters of the alphabet.

When I ran True Image I selected to change the Drive letter of the Seagate to C:\ but this appears not to have happened.

Can anyone help?

Thanks for your attention.

Try cloning again if you can, but this time remove the old HD before booting-up. & hope your clonning from Bootable CD (Bootable Rescue Media Builder) & not Windows?

Thanks for the reply. I've sorted it out now. I discovered that I had not changed the boot order in my BIOS. I thought I had but had stupidly not changed the drive order by using the pg Up Pg Down keys. When I did this Acronis changed the Seagate to C:\ and removed the old C:\ completely. I then re-installed the Maxtor through Windows, formatted it a labelled it Drive F:\. All's well that ends well.

Acronis True Image is a great little program but as I've just proved, it's completely not foolproof.

Thanks again.
