Update: Got a call from the Met. Offender, car & plates have been recovered. Offender has been arrested. I've been told to leave the marker on my car for now in case they've been cloned more than once. In the mean time I am going to edit all my posts on forums and stuff and cover my plates.

Only took them a day.

 

[Third Opinion]

I had a friend who had his car cloned and the cloned car was used in a few crimes over a few days.

For a few weeks he said it was a bit of a pain as the police pulled him over several times. However he said the were always polite and sympathetic to the fact he was also a victim.

After the two or three weeks went past life was back to normal. Most of the stops only lasted a couple of minutes whilst they confirmed his identity.

Plate could have been cloned to more than one car. No doubt it will stay on police systems for some time, so OP will get pulled constantly for that period
