Cloning going wrong

Hi all,

I'm trying to liberate an SSD from my laptop and go back to HDD, but when I clone the partitions from the SSD onto the HDD, the resulting hard drive does not boot the laptop (I'm copying them all individually because the software I have makes a mess of just cloning the whole drive (it badly resizes the partitions).

Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?

What software?

If not Macrium Reflect then try it.

Clone the entire drive rather than individual partitions. If you don't you're asking for trouble. You should be able to specify the target partition sizes before the clone.

Thanks! That worked first time! I'd been using EaseUS some-piece-of-crap, essentially telling it to do the same thing, but the result bluntly refused to boot. Wish I'd known a few hours ago!
