Hey all,

I have an Asus eee pc 1015px with a 320gig HDD and the HDD has 2 partitions. It no longer has the recovery partition as I deleted it but when I installed Win 7 Enterprise I made a second partition and named it Backup Disk. So this is how it looks

C Drive 97GB - 12GB Used
Backup Disk - 200GB – 0GB Used

Now I ordered a 64GB SSD Drive and wanted to know if I can clone the OS using Acronis?

I know its 320GB Vs 64GB and know it's possible if there was no other partition when using NON SSD drives as I'm only using 12GB on the C drive but out of my depth as far as SSD and the other partition is concerned.

Or would I be safer deleting the Backup partition and then cloning the drive, I just cant be assed doing a fresh install and having to put all my programmes etc back on and if so can Acronis integrate the backup partition back to the OS partition?

Or lastly....just do a fresh install:)

Cheers Wassa,

was looking at Instructions on paragon migrate and looks as though I can just select the OS and copy it straight to the SSD, is this right?

If so that would do my job ok and then I can just set up a smaller partition later or maybe this software will let me do it at the same time.

There are too many backup, clone...etc software about and it's hard to get something that will actually work the way it’s advertised. I had used Acronis a while back and one time it failed badly but since the last 2 editions it has been pretty reliable for cloning and image backup although I would not be 100% confident if depending on it to not mess up somewhere along the line.

I was reading up on paragon migrate and they also have a programme paragon backup & recovery which seems like a good tool. I keep swaying towards paragon migrate as it looks to be very deicated to SSD drives and the automatic partition alignment is a bonus but as I say they all sound good when being advertised....lol.....I'm open to all suggestions…keep them coming:)

Just an update, Acronis didnt work, nor did Paragon migrate but Macrium Reflect done the job, although had to do a repair once finished using the original Windows 7 disc but repaired it in a few seconds. Thanks for all your guys, got there in the end:)
