Just need a bit of advice chaps...

I recently got all 4 tyres replaced on my Civic (2002 1.4l) and I'm quite happy with em... :)

Anyhew, I seem to be experiencing a small annoyance since the tyre fitment...

When Slowing for a junction/roundabout... if the coast is clear I'd usually stick it in 2nd and carry on... I now get a 'Clonk' as I put my foot on the accelerator and the car accelerates back to speed... it didn't do this before the tyres were done!!..

I've checked the nuts on all 4 wheels and they're nice and tight!.. the wheels don't wobble either!!...

Anyone know what this could be?... :(

Cheers
Sim. :)

My parents had the same problem when their tyres were too big. They looked fine on the car, but when we took them to another garage they checked and told us the problem, the tires were replaced for correct ones, 'clonking' stopped.

But their exactly the same make/type/size as the ones that came off?!?..

Would that do any damage to any components???...

sounds like the wheel either wasnt properly seated on the flange or that the bolts a bit loose.

that or they left some tools inside the tyre.

Could it be wheel bearings? I've not had the pleasure yet myself so i'm just guessing, but guessing is better than... rivets in the leg.

Although i'd expect it to happen elsewhere too.

Well good luck, perhaps if it wasn't a crap place, go back and mention it.

Weirdly enough when our old car went in for new front tyres when we got it back it made a knock on every rotation I thought they had bent the crap guards for the breaks noise vanished after a few miles though.

Clonking as you come off, or in your case, get back onto the accelerator may be an engine mount being worn. It may be total coincidence that it's started happening at the same time as the tyres were changed...

no no no, what you say sounds absolutely perfectly logical, but this only happened when the tyres were done, so it must be the tyres lol

That was one of my thoughts!...

but I've been reading on a few other car forums (Teg, VAG and Bimmer) about similar problems so I thought I'd ask here (I'm not a member of those other forums!).

I'll take it to my local garage (not Honda as they'll charge an arm and possibly a leg to have a look) and see if that's it!!...
