Anwhere I can download one or two of the Close Combat series (preferably legally...)?

I have CC2 and it's still good after 15 years but never tried the others. I assume there isn't any way of buying copies now other than Ebay but there must be somewhere where I can buy a download (unless they have been released for free after so long, which is doubtful).

Thanks

they're not on GOG.com which was your best option.

i don't think anyone would condemn you if you pirated them, the developer doesn't exist anymore, for one thing.

Some of the Close Combat series have been revamped by Matrix Games, and are available to purchase and download via their website. CC5 in particular is a good one, as it contains all of the maps and units etc from a mod that came out back in the day called Gold Juno Sword. You get to play as the British and Canadians as well as the Americans.
CC2 was my favourite too, but I`ve not got around to buying the latest version.

First 2 games are epic in my opinion. The rest after got a bit dull after they kept the same engine and just added new maps and units. Nice to hear from a fellow Close Combat gamer. ;)

Interested in checking out the series revamp by Matrix Games myself.

Matrix games have published one called Last Stand Arnhem which is meant to be pretty good but it's (or was) £27 which is a lot for a 10 year old engine I felt.

Agreed, they are quite expensive. But they have a lot of replay value, and Matrix are a small developer in a niche market. I thought cc5 was worth the money, but I think Cross Of Iron was a bit overpriced.
