closed back headphones

my sony mdr-v700's have just died on one channel (only works while the right side is folded up), im going to try and fix them as they seem fully servicable according to the internet..

however in case they're screwed..

suggestions for good closed back headphones? i like the bass of the sonys, and fairly robust to survive being knocked about in a rucsack on the train etc. 3.5 and 6.3mm jacks would be nice.

Go with what you know, if it aint broke, dont fix it. or in this case if you cant fix it, get a replacement set. I've got the mdr-v500s and I know when i bought them that those ones were the best but i couldn't justify the £100 price tag they had at the time (poor student.......after forking out £500 for decks :p)
 
well i fixed them for about 1 minute, the cable inside them is screwed as it looks like it wears against the plastic body when extending the headband or folding the earcups. horribly thin cable too.

hd25 are proving hard to source under 130 quid. anything cheaper?

Oh dear, poor you. :( I also have had the V500's a few years. Some time later, whilst looking at headphones in general, I stumbled on a review of them, and the guy said how bad there are in comparison to the V700. I thought at the time Sony could do no wrong, I was wrong. Quite glad I got them 2nd hand at the time. :p

Good choice with the HD25, friend of mine has them, very good phones. :)
 
tell you what concidering the cost of teh HD25's they look incredibly cheap lol

havent had a chance to listen to them yet thought..
