Hello Guys,

I got few spare quid and I was thinking of buying one of the closed loop radiator coolers ( Corsair H110i).
Would there by any difference in temperature compare to my BeQuiet Dark Rock 3, or it is waste of money?(i.e. side grade)

Short answer is no.

Longer answer is CLCs are bullt with components that are designed to last 2-3 years. I know, warranty is 5, but reality is most start loosing coolant flow rate after a couple of years and temps begin to get warmer. Also CLCs are much louder then good air coolers at same temps .. and be quiet! coolers live up to their name .. are quiet. ;)

Yeah that's what i thought performance will decrease over time,I had custom loop and the temps were great but the maintenance required is problematic. ;/

If built with maintenance in mind (with fill and drain fittings in loop) draining, flushing and refilling with coolant and inhibitor is not too painful .. but I moved back to air after many years of H2O when big powerful coolers like iFX-14 came out .. that was over 10 years ago. ;)

I had port fillers and drain port so that was not problematic, I had 2 or 3 leaks that covered the carpet in red fluid which my missus almost killed me. If you have 2 radiators and all fittings the whole setup weights a ton.

I have a Corsair H100i v2.

It's a good cooler and keeps temps under control but it is noisy. I need to set up a better fan curve with it.

I also have the EVGA Hybrid GTX 1080 . I think cooling the graphics card is a much smarter move since that is always the hottest component in your PC.

With hindsight I would probably have not bothered with the Corsair H100i v2, I just bought it because I wanted to try one.

Sounds like the red fluid didn't turn into your blood. ;)

Bummer. I never used color in my loops. Did have a few leaks, but nothing major. Only liquid I'm using now is a Silent Loop, and it's an AIO, but not a CLC ;)

When I first fitted the same cooler I wasn't overly impressed but after spending some time tinkering with custom fan curves in corsair link I started to link it more , I've since changed the fans a couple of times and settled on the corsair ml's but I think they should really come as standard in the first place ..

To the op , having owned both i'd say there about equal in performance and noise levels it comes down to how you want the inside of your case to look an aio set up looks cleaner to me.

So you started out paying more for H100 than for for a top tier air cooler that cool just as well or better and makes less noise, then you bought 2 additional sets of fans to get it as quiet as good air cooler is out of the box. That makes your CLC has now cost almost twice as much as a comparable air cooler costs to get the same performance.

Sorry, but I can't see the logic in that.

Allready had fans knocking about mate got a big box full of bits , I got the aio as never had one before and wanted to test for myself instead of going of what people said online , I've 5 pc's all are air cooled apart form the one with corsair aio

Sorry, I assumed you were like most others who have bought CLCs, then bought fans to get CLC quiet with less or similar coollng.
