Closing Ceremony & Olympic Inspiration

UK opening ceremony
- Documentation of a vibrant, important history
- Excellent music spanning many generations
- Instantly recognisable idols and icons
- Genuine humour

Rio opening ceremony
- People nobody knows playing drums
- Pretty colours

Right, well. That'll be..good.

If you'd made assumptions about our opening ceremony from our bit in Beijing it'd have sounded even worse than what you've just summed up for Rio.

Wow. How spectacularly insular and egocentric. You think many people round the world give a crap about the UK industrial revolution and the NHS?
The industrial revolution was a European-wide achievement that had its roots in the UK. It's celebrated and studied to this day. Brazil doesn't have anything similar. The NHS is arguably the best, most universal, healthcare system in the world. For that reason it is discussed and revered world-wide. Again, Brazil has nothing similar.

Uh.... yes.

The industrial revolution transformed industry globally, and the NHS is regarded work wide as the best national health offering of any country.

You are just permanently bitter aren't you?

Are you sore because I told you imagine is crap?

Maybe my point is more that madtoady is being very narrow minded if he's going to refer to our ceremony as including "important history" while Brazil's ceremony will include "drummers no one has ever heard of". I mean... Come on.

In their 15 minutes, they put a far better show than we did in Beijing so how can you say their opening ceremony won't be good. Also, Pele is pretty damn famous.

They might not have a plethora of recognisable people like we do but isn't the point of this so that we learn more of their culture...
