This is a bit of a necro but I saw this thread while scrolling down.
I used to use dropbox on both win and linux until they restricted the number of connections you could have on the free service. Looking round for an alternative I found https://koofr.eu and have used it ever since. The linux client seems to work as well as the windows one and is easy to set up. I haven't had any problems with it.
I only use it for a few small files and hence haven't paid for extra storage or used any of the extra features ie linking to other cloud storage etc.
