Cloud base game streaming

I've not used cloud based services, but I use in home streaming via the Steam Link app quite a bit via 1GB ethernet, and the quality difference between that and running on my PC is noticeable (it's certainly playable, but nowhere near as sharp & fluid).

4k 120Hz 8 bit colour requires almost 30Gbps bandwidth, so there must be some compromises made somewhere (e.g. compression) - how noticeable is this?

There's also going to be some obvious latency - quick speed test shows my latency is 21ms, and that's to the nearest host, if the game server is at the opposite end of the country then that's going to be higher. Add the local input latency and display latency, and you're potentially looking at 50ms+ which is certainly going to be noticeable - maybe not so bad if using a controller, but surely when using m&kb, that's just going to feel "off"?

Stadia was absolutely amazing, if you had a decent internet connection. Was seriously a very impressive setup. Am gutted they are closing it, more gutted my 200 plus hour assassins creed odyssey save file is going to disappear never to see the light of day again. Malaka!
Why aren't you downloading the save data file?

Woop woop, awesome google, not only free controllers in the end but they will be enabling Bluetooth

Aye, yet to see how well they work via BT, I have two as I did the €22,22 deal for Chromecast ultra + the stadia controller, but they even refunded that.
I haven't really tried the haptics and resistive triggers on dualsense as you need to be wired for that, but I think the Stadia controllers in general feel on par with the dualsense.

They're definitely nicer than Xbox controllers, could never get used to the odd analog on the left...

If they will work ok on bluetooth then they'll probably be my fav controllers!

I now have the 4080 version of GFN. With Cyberpunk at 4k, DLSS Quality, RTX Psycho with Ultra settings I'm getting around 60 fps with a few dips. Pretty good.

Exhausted most of the games I wanted to play on GFN, so I signed up for a month to Boosteroid.

It's OK, on my pixel 6 Pro it looks pretty washed out / grainy, but if I use one of the kids galaxy S6 lite tablets to play, it looks really nice, but GFN deff wins on the quality aspect of what the games look like.

Library is great on Boosteroid though, been playing Horizon Zero dawn, there's also god of war, uncharted, spiderman etc.

Yet to try it on pc but will give it a go on my NUC soon, its limited to 1080p also.
