My friend has a small office with 4 Computers in, from what I understand they are not networked and the office is not set up for networking. They all connect over wifi to the internet.
Currently they use an External HDD to transfer files and to work from home.
They are wanting some kind of shared area. Putting a server in and networking would be a bit to expensive at the moment.
I have suggested google drive/dropbox etc but I think they are looking for something a bit more secure or a physical box.
I'm thinking some kind of NAS box. I have installed a few but only for internal access on the network.
I have used a buffalo Cloudstation before but never with the Cloud set up.
They want something that is more or less plug and play after the initial set up.
I like the Netgear Ready NAS but not sure if they support cloud access.

Whats your thoughts?

Sounds like a company that want enterprise functionality without paying for it.

The big issue here will be their internet connection - they will need good bandwidth to run any sort of cloud based storage.

Better would be a local NAS box running a local 'dropbox' type file sync to their own individual machines. They can then work from home and re-sync their files when back in the office.

NAS devices like synology can sync away from the office if you set up the firewall/router properly.
