He all,

I have been looking into cloud storage as a back up means for my data on my computer.
Now I do have Google drive but I want to know if there is a backup solution that you guys have had experience with or recommend. I do not want to loose some of the more important data like photos software music that I have already.

I do also have 2TB external HDD as well as the 15GB Google drive.
I have been thinking of getting another external drive.
In terms of gigabytes I would say about 500GB is what I want to backup.

Is cloud backup needed or get another external drive?

What are your backup solutions?

You should have a local backup, offsite backup and read-only backup.

Local backup to a Synology NAS using Cobian backup.
Offsite backup to Crashplan or Google drive using Duplicati
Read-only backup to Blu-ray or removable drive (you'll have to plug/unplug the drive on a regular basis).

I'm sure others will have more ideas.

I do have a 2tb external drive that I make regular backups onto. I have since upgraded my Google drive to 100tb for a small monthly cost.

I shall grab Duplicati to help make the Google drive backups easier also hopefully soon want to get another external and work on removable backups also.
