Saw this on Saturday night and thought it was a great "ride" but overall a bit of a mixed bag. If the film had ended at the helecopter crash and then cut back to the old tape I would have loved it more but the bit in the park really spoilt it for me.

Many LOST fans think they ran out of ideas in season 2 and the writers are just making it up now.
However its still a wonderful program that leaves you guessing but you also know that the writers are sitting what to make up next.
Many Star Trek episodes were wrote by fans.
Its one of the only series where anybody could submit stories.
Even Heroes is more believable than Cloverfield.
I've never seen 24.
I went to see this last night and was blown away by it, absolutely superb in places and some of the scenes really stood out to me (I especially liked how the whole thing was recorded over Rob and Beths day, was a nice touch).
As for a sequel, I don't think I would like there to be a second, it would explain too much and ruin it - plus, how many films can they do all in handycam? it wouldn't be anywhere near as good on normal cameras the second time round.
This film was brilliant but should be left as a one off, was a very good suckerpunch of a movie *bam* and it hit you in the stomach and left you reeling.
Still wonder where the monster came from and what happened, but I think it would be ruined if I found out.

Saw this yesteday.
gf hated it, housemate and I thought it was pretty good.
Provided you accept it for what it is, it's a perfectly viable movie.
Much better than Blair Witch imo.

You just picked up on everything I mentioned and tried to make a comeback, not only did you fail but missed my point completly.
I believe the fact lost fans think it's all being made up is because they want answers here and now, they can't understand that it's one big puzzle slowyl unveiling whilst adding more pieces.
I don't think you could mess up so bad, there has to be an iota of back-story and planning.
Star-trek having fans write in stories as nothing to do with anything.
yeah well the film will be wasted on you anyway.
most classic horror/thriller films do not 'show the monster' that much , its because a film works well when it does not have to. the very suggestion of a threat is enough for a person with some imagination at least for it to be a affect.
you do not need to see the monster every 5 minutes.

lets just hope this doesnt spawn a load of sequels, as it would take away what made the film different, its original take on storytelling. but seeing how there are milking the cash cow that is lost, I can see cloverfield 2 being next summers blockbuster sequel.

Im a Lost fan as well, but come on, each series is good episode, crap episode, good episode, crap episode. Series 2 from around 3 or 4 epsiodes in was pretty dire as well and just seemed to be made up as it went along, with no direction or sense of purpose. Series 3, i actually quite enjoyed, well every other episode anyway
first episode of series 4, found that a bit poor really, but ill stick with it.
Come on, face facts, they could have made Lost the greatest 2 series, maybe 3 series of all time.
anyway we are digressing, no need to have a little lost paddy just becuase someone someone has other views on the matter.

People think they are milking LOST is because of this
Shows such as ER, House, The OC, Scrubs, Friends do not have a overall season or entire series arc to follow. LOST does, and when they are not progressing with the story, those episodes are call fillers, these episodes generally don't matter as they don't move the plot along and the characters end up at the end of the episode where they started. In the last 2 seasons there has been a LOT of fillers, it is these kinda of episodes that make people think they are milking it.
LOST is not the only show guilty of this thou, even 24 does it if you look closer enough, Jack might be on track to do hunt down someone, he get side tracked or stuck for an episode and then pull through, at the end he's back where he started with no new infomation or progress in getting the bad guy.

True. To be honest i kind of agree. It was well-known that for a while they didnt know when they were going to end the whole show. I guess that made it pretty hard for them to judge the pace of some of the story arcs and episodes. I agree that there are some slow episodes, especially in season 2. But like i said, that was because they had no definite end-date. They do now, so things should be a lot better paced overall.

and whats wrong with that exactly ?
The problem the writers of LOST had, is that during seasons 1-3 there was no end date set. Not an ideal situation for them as American tv companies can be extremely fickle when it comes to renewing seasons for shows.
With them having a grand idea for LOST, they couldn't implement it when they didn't have an end date. I'd wager that the episodes airing in seasons 4-6 with be of a much higher quality as they are writing towards a definitive end point.
I see LOST as more of a set of novels, by the end of each one the story has progressed but they still keep a lot open for the rest of the books. 24 on the other hand is one story in each season, with something occasionally linking them.
