Cloverfield

Actually yes. Unfortunately evidence to prove the above cannot be provided at this moment in time. :D

:D Us OcUK'ers could kill it with mustard, ovary punches, and nuking from orbit. twice..... Scratch the nuking, that wouldn't work.

Well one point was hanging in the name of the film, or specifically 'Clover', which I remember hearing was the first thing to grow on a battlefield (I think )

I saw this recently in a very bizarre cinema in Paris. Basically it was underground, 6 very small screens (about 8 foot tall), which shook madly every time the RER (type of underground) went past. All added to the experience!

Interesting film, one of those you almost enjoy more afterwards upon reflection than during.

Sequel sounds like an interesting concept too.

The bits with the army and air force giving the monster the 'good news' were great fun, but the rest of the film was a touch clichéd, to say the least.

For me the video camera gimmick just got frustrating after a while. And though I appreciate that this was the whole point of the movie, it does make you wonder if the film would have been any cop if it had been shot in a normal manner.

I am hoping the sequel will be from the perspective of the military, such that it can more or less take off from where the first one finished and we can see how the creature continues its rampage and possibly how it is defeated. It would be wierd if the sequel is from the same timeline as the first as you will have lost the initial shock factor of the creatures first impact on the city, and if it is just another collection of friends trying to get to safety I can't see how the basic story will be different to the first.

I thought it could have been better if it had omitted 2 things...

1. Being filmed with a camcorder..Silly idea.

2. The goon (Hud) documenting with the camcorder...His vocabulary stretched to 'Oh my god' & Man' & 'Rob..all said so many times U wished he would hurry up & be killed.

The monsters & special effect were very good & I would have enjoyed the film more if not for the afore said items..

Go see & make your own mind up

just watched this. Really didn't think it was anything special. Ok for a no brainer I guess, but I wasn't engrossed.

Reason for it not dying from that many missiles is because its so far under the ocean, its already heat resistant, because its closer to the earths core.

True Story.

I loving how you're picking up all this info about the film but mangling it into something else.

Being at the bottom of the ocean does not equal to being at the earth's core, there's many MANY miles left to go before you'll get that amount of heat.

It's more to do with the pressure it's body can take at those depths.

Then it would be "just another monster flick".
What would you expect in terms of vocab from the average joe off the street? That's exactly what he's playing.

i love how you dont read around on the internet and find out the true meanings behind the film.

Forgot to say in my little review... you know the bit right near the end where the big monster attacks the camera man.. how does he survive that and not get ripped to pieces?

he didn't survive, the other two that were with him go up to him scream a little and take the cam and continue to the bridge.

It was a lot better at the cinema purely for the fact that all we saw in the way of trailers was the statue of liberty with no head and a chewed up statue of liberty head. We saw no other glimpses, so we were on the edge of the seat beforehand. The adverts on the tv actually give the whole film away by showing you the ending. Which is just stupid. The whole point is not knowing what is goign to happen.
