cmos battery keeps dying

hi all, the battery in my girl friends pc keeps dying its the 3rd time its been changed in less than a year.
would there be a known reason for this ?
anything i can do but put another?
also i put new graphics card in (well my old one) and now the pc wont boot as in it starts but no beeps and the screen doesnt start either.
would this be due to the battery dying ?
i have taken out the gpu and put back to how it was but still nothing

please help !!!

had a similar problem with the battery dying on old evesham PC, so they replaced the mobo, as i suspected there was something casuing a short circuit around there, if you have a spare board give that a try

hmmm, slight problem there im here in phillipines with new born baby!!
was thinking to leave laptop with and bring back the pc to uk as it has some decent parts i could play with.
for now just gonna try new battery to get me by

Some of the batteries you can buy are utter crap and you've no idea how long they have been on the shelf. Try buying from a different shop.
