Coal fires

I have a fireplace in my flat which I used over the winter months - lovely! It's a big cast iron fireplace so heats up and radiates nicely. A bit more hassle than using the central heating, but much nicer - but that's the ol' romantic in me! :)

Blaming it on being a romantic? It's the chance to say "me man, me make fire" that really sells it to you isn't it. :p

I don't know why but I always feel like I've achieved something when I've successfully lit the fire.

Bit of a odd bull comment, but are there new fire/boiler combos that are far more efficient? would have thought with Cf design and materials, would have found a much better way to extract heat from the fire and exhaust gasses.
