Sign-ups were predictably low in our area - we're probably one of the better examples of a diverse, harmonious workforce anyway so I don't see why it was deemed necessary. Box-ticking I guess but I found the suggestion personally quite insulting.

The BBC is also setting targets for hiring more people from working class backgrounds.
Perhaps if they just left it at that, they might end up hiring more ethnically diverse people anyway.

As much as you want since they tend to operate on the "one drop" philosophy of racial heritage. Have you never noticed how black/white mixed people always identify as black?How much "white" heritage is premitted before you can no longer identify as BAME to benefit from the BBC's hiring policy?
