Standard cocktail wear is fancy dress as one of the classic McDonalds mascots.

May I recommend the 'Hamburglar' route?

Whats the dress code?

Formal.

Ive been told its a Formal Thing but you where cocktail cloth what ever they are?
I only kinda know what a cocktail dress is for a girl :p

cant go wrong with a suit. if its fancy dress, you're james bond, if it's formal, well its all good. if its evening casual, then you say you're other clothes are in the linen cupboard drip drying. ;)

It'll probably be black tie. Dinner jacket, white shirt, black bow-tie, black trousers, black shoes, optional waistcoat or cummerbund.

If it's a cocktail party and someone said formal then I wouldn't go in anything less than a D.J with your bow tie etc.

lmao, that must be the funniest post of the day, sat here infront of a teacher and ict techy (im in 6th form) and i just randomly started cracking up.

ha, fun...

If you get an invitation to a Cocktail party and there's no mention of dresscode, then you are supposed to wear a black tie (Tuxedo). This is according to tradition.

If it had said only Cocktail, and not Cocktail Party, then you can skip tradition and be less formal.

Cocktail can be Black tie or 'Lounge suit' apparently.

How a lounge suit differs from a normal work suit I don't know.

I just didn't want people turning up in jeans or shorts - which of course they did.

One bloke complained about the dress code at the work Christmas do I organised on friday that he said because he couldn't wear jeans he wasn't going.

Guess who turned up on the night? ****

Ok more details.

Its not black tie formal.

Its more a Casual style formal, no tie (That i know of) kinda relaxed formal. Dressed neat type of thing.
