CoD 4 graphics...

That looks like the most comfortable bed ever.

First you need to take into account that COD4 runs at an almost constant 60fps on the 360, whereas pretty much any other fps on the system is locked at 30. Consider the in game effects, especially the lighting and shadows, it's quite an accomplishment. Particle and volumeteric effects like smoke look great and cause no slowdown either.

Since the multiplayer is so fast paced, the movement has to be smooth to stay playable.

The first mission on the boat looked pretty spectacular, especially once you were inside the ship I thought :)

As much as i have been enjoying the multiplayer, tbh i am wondering what all the fuss is about with COD4, IMO it appears to be even more blown out of proportion than Halo 3.
I was a huge fanboy of COD when it first came out, thought 2&3 where meh was really looking forward to this one. I can't get over how people are talking about how visually stunning it is, as it just can't see it myself.
Even the screens as it loads look low res  The whole game just doesn't seem as crisp as it should be for a 'visually stunning' game tbh. The best thing about the visuals is it runs at a steady 60fps, other than that, it is pretty average looking tbh.

yeah i cant see its major fuss. Board of online shooters now, css got boring, bf2 lasted longer. Now cod2 just seems like css with unlocks and a more relistic damage. Its pritty much rainbow 6 but without all the bugs and no cover system, although i do like the shooterble terrain.

Well I wouldn't incase some scripted grenades come my way!

That is one thing that ****** me off with Cod 4, on the sniper level, at the end i hid behind a fence before any of the enemies came/got dropped in via the chopper yet the all knew where i was and around 20 grenades landed at my feet :rolleyes:

well its the only game series that makes me play online on a fps game all the time, Easily beats Halo3 thats for sure.
CoD4 is good fun but it has no need for teamplay. Often it feels like I'm just playing with randoms when I play the OcUK lot but in halo you really feel part of a team and it's a MUCH more social experience.

Halo 3 trashes CoD4 online, it's a lot harder too :)

From what I could tell from the beta test (I'm sure a few of you will remember me saying it's not that good), it's just Call of Duty 1, 2 and 3 with new skins. I expected core changes for the better, but it was the same identical gameplay for the fourth time in a row. I did think the graphics were phenomenal for its performance though.

Oddly I find COD4 on the 360 "appears" better than on my PC. I think the lack of hi-res textures is really shown up by putting the res over 1280x1024 and at 2560x1600 it looks a bit rough in places on my PC. On the other hand I find the 360 version much more impressive

It is identical with a poor "earning scheme" for getting better weapons. It's no bad thing as CoD 2 and 3 online are great :)

That's sometimes Halo's downfall, its so dependent on your team that if you get a rubbish team when your on your own you have no hope to win! But when the OcUK lot get together we are awesome! :p

Where's krono and everyone, i fancy some halo'o'clock now!

Yeah it can be a big disadvantage as alrik squeals all the time when he does well and his team have let him down.

HAHA! :D

I've never been there when that happens but i can imagine! :p

Josh

He quits in a strop when we try and balance the teams :p

I'd play halo now but the gf and flatmates have nicked off with my 360 to play GH3. I could probably con the GF into playing halo if we can get a group going.

Wow I feel the same way
COD1 was amazing, especially the well paced multiplayer. UO made it even better too, even in the graphics department.
COD2 was good but didn't have the same effect on me as the first. The multiplayer was astonishingly awful and I have no idea how it became so popular.

COD4... I've only played about 2 or 3 hours of just the multiplayer. I thought it was ok, until last night when I realised it was because I was trying hard to like it - since so many people call it game of the year.

Well that's weird because undoubtedly the PC version looks a fair bit better, even IGN noticed that.

Technically yes but due to the high res I think the textures don't look as impressive. Just a personal opinion and probably cos I have been spoilt on the PC by Crysis
