COD 5

Try a lot of different drivers, i get my core i7 tomoz or wednesday anways and im sure something in my system is faulty or holding back.

Plus he's getting 50fps at the low-end anyway... so long as your minimum is above 30FPS it's all the same pretty much :p

That's not strictly true. Sure, a game is very playable at 30fps but you do notice a difference over it (by a reasonable amount of frames, mind you). Because of one thing. Motion blur. Move your hand in front of your face, you will see motion blur. This is how your eyes detect fast movement. If games had motion blur, no, you wouldn't notice a difference above 30fps. But as is, they have to use a high frame rate to compensate.

loads of games have motionblur now. the CODs, TF2 just to name a couple.

Really? I didn't know this... they should run perfectly at 30fps then. What is the OP on about?

Wait... TF2 has motion blur? I must try this...

The occasional dip is perfectly acceptable, and it's to be expected for very intensive scenes such as explosions. As i already posted, the i7 will only get you a few frames more so it's just a waste of money imo. Also, with motion blur on you as a human won't be able to notice the dip. Were you using fraps?

ive bought it from MM so im happy got the processor and ram for 150 quid. my 4870x2 was also dipping below 60fps which says to me something is wrong.

I want a core i7 not just for cod but for future and to upgrade.

For future? You current chip was perfectly fine. And upgrades you get when you need to upgrade. Not before. Besides, when you did need to upgrade you would have had more money and there would have been better products around.

Have fun with your i7 :p

Something is up with my system i just know it not getting max peformance. i will enjoy my core i7 mate. core i7 that clocks to 3.8 and proberly 4ghz with 6 gig of ddr3 1333 ram which clocks to 1600 for 150 quid you cannot argue with that.

Well i believe i already have, but are you getting better framerate is the big question. Ignoring the fact that with motion blur you don't need it at all...
