COD Ghosts VAC Ban.

So I fired up COD Ghosts to have a quick go on some multiplayer. Look ages to load and when it did it says your account has been VAC banned. Doesn't give any details, I have opened up a ticket with Valve, but an instant reply which said they would respond soon via email, also said a VAC ban cannot be undone :confused:

I have read stories about people getting VAC banned for no reason in Ghosts, but never thought it would happen to me..

Def left a sour taste in my mouth lol..

Anybody here got any experience with this?

Now you mention it, I remember trying some FPS unlocker thing. When I first got the game it was juddery, after un-parking my cores it was smooth so didn't use the FPS unlocker after that...?

I didn't realize FPS unlocker could be considered ban worthy? Thought that only applied to hacking/cheating?

This is the first and only time I have been banned from a game lol. Bit annoying, feel it was a waste of money now. We do have it on PS4 so I guess not end of the world, I do prefer mouse and keyboard for FPS though... Grrr..

unlocking frame limits in games can give you an advantage...
say someone is at 60fps and your at 120fps you do have an advantage also those fps unlockers modify the games code or memory and could be considered hacking game....

just seems very unlucky that they caught you for that. your not missing out on much anyway cod ghosts sucks on pc, consoles are far better optimized and even then they have frames dips for no reason..

Yeah, there are much more players on PS4 as well, like on average 60,000 PS4 VS 6,000 on PC when I log on..

Will wait and see what they reply with, although not expecting any help lol. Does seem a bit ott to ban for that..

Back to PS4 for my COD gaming fix.. Not having mouse and keyboard does suck though. Disappointing but not the end of the world. Glad I hadn't paid for the upcoming DLC :p

There's nothing to wait for, VAC bans are irreversible and that will be the end of it from their point of view.

This is the exact reason why I don't use any third party tools to enhance a game that is multiplayer. Singleplayer knock yourself out, but it's just not worth the risk for multiplayer.
 
Hate to bring it up, but i thought a VAC ban was total, i.e your now banned from all multi player games using VAC not just ghosts or has that changed?
 
Game based. The VAC ban only counts for COD: Ghosts. Not reversible though and it was probably your fps mod, as this is considered a hack in COD games because of the way the engine works, ie with faster fps you can jump higher and run faster etc.
 
Quake engine still does that? you used to be able to do that in RTCW and jump some walls early and get behind the lines. Nice to see some Progress in the last what? 12 years?

After trying COD for the free weekend and running into a insane amount of cheats online including some of the most blatant aimboting I've seem in a long time I wouldn't call it much of a lose. its a dreadful game anyway.

Only if it was a mistake in the first place, which from the sound of it this wasn't.

Also, you will forever have the tag on your profile telling everyone that you've been VAC banned.
 
Just got VAC banned too from ghosts but doesnt show up on my profile...seems its been happening a lot since 6th june update.

Yes i was using a fov changer and had used a fps unlocker 6 months ago but it stopped working after update few days after.

stupid really when bo2 has built in fov changer (that works) and is capped at 200 fps not 90.

Oh well prefer bo2 anyway :)
