Only cause you would always run exactly where people throw them, I threw a lot on 4, mainly as cover though - if someone was running to a point I wanted then a grenade did a good job of either killing them, stopping them running or confirming they weren't there.

I have to say the second chance perk is most amusing, as it last long enough to clear an area and wait for a revive.

Dunno why you guys bother with hardcore on this yet, after you quit out I played some HQ and it's far better. You can rank the guns up faster and see the weapons people are actually killing you with.
Its also much better for learning the levels.
That said I'm bored with both and once I have finished Vet on Waw I will sell the pair of them. I would probably have loved 5 if I'd hadn't have played 4 but i'm kinda bored of the whole format now. I have no desire to go back to 4 because the maps bore the pants of me and everyone just plays the same old way.

I must say I did love our little stint back on COD4 last night.
I'm still not giving up on WaW though as I really like the new weapons (not including the bloody tanks!). I'm determined to at least play through my first prestige and then decide if I will continue playing it.

HQ then please Captain Faded. 
I think the M16 red dot meant you were capable from level 5. This seems to really reward the higher ranks with the better weapons.
COD4 is ace. I still have bond and my N64, so its unlikely COD4 is going anywhere.

But anything other than HC is pants
