cod world at war install problems

Installed game but when i go to start it it just flashes logo screen then nothing. My pc is upto date with drivers ......at first was getting virtual memory low when it was 2043mb out of 4036mb upt it to 4036 to 6036mb. Now it wont uninstall getting 1628 error....any ideas folks...got me baffled...my pc stats are amd4400x2, 8800gt card ,2 gig of memory.

my refresh rate is 60hz....will try others n get back...

yeah..mines xp ...sound doesnt say nothing about emulated..another thing i have forgot to mention was that the disc wont autoplay, comes up as data error.i have to explore disc and install from setup...
