I'm sure this has been discussed, but can't see the actual problem through the hundreds of posts on COD2.

Writing this on behalf of a work colleague. He's only recently bought his Xbox360, doesn't have live (uses works connection for internet and we have to block the ports for legal reasons), so he can't update his console as easily as you or I.

He's got COD2, set up his profile and plays. But each and every time he finishes the Russian Missions, it quits him back to the main screen and he has to start again, despite 'saying' his progress had been saved, back to the start he goes.

I'm sure I read somewhere (on here?) about the was a bug, and whilst an official patch is out, to download (which he can't), there is a 'way round it'.

Anyone remember what it is?

Lend you his console so you can update it for him?

It's an option, but he lives a fair bit away and I don't think he can bear to be parted with it for more than a day

O well, will keep looking.

he has to use the level select cheat to choose the next mission iirc

Cheers! Knew it was something like that, right, searching for it now...

Yeah, this bug can be a killer, I had it and it forces you to redo levels to get the 'completed game' achievements. He really needs to connect to Live! to get the patch. There must be someway he can get internet access and just plug it in with an ethernet cable.

I believe the bug manifests when you change profile, mid game. If he makes sure he had auto log-on on and doesn't change profile or make changes to his profile while playing he should be ok.
