UPDATE: it's been done. Attempted the last mission i was missing on veteren difficulty (the last Hill 400 mission - snipe the mortars, defend for 5 mins etc) and sorta did it. Before i was getting so annoyed, but after starting this level with a fresh head on i just rolled through it, didn't really seem that hard and think i was playing it around 25 mins. 1000/1000 now, muar!
Also i have to agree with Nokkon, i have had some of the best FPS experiences without a doubt whilst playing cod2. A truely magnificent game. Not too impressed by the multiplayer though and dont like the idea of downloading maps at a price
Think i'll try "GUN" next.......

must say to all those that have finished this on Vet difficulty a big WELL DONE.
I'm stuck on The Battle Of Pointe Du Hoc - the one where you boat lands and you climb the cliff and then enter the trenchs. I'm getting pwned left, right and center, i clear the left trench, double back and clear the right trench and at the end of the trench one of your guys blows up, then out of trench into a underground bunker and clear that, then use a sniping position and clear loads of germans all around me but must progress so double back and go up middle trench and get to end and told to lay down smoke before climbing out over trench where i get blownup or shot dead instantly, lol
It is indeed a great game but so annoying too!

Don't worry mate, coupled with the "battle for hill 400", the d-day missions are some of the hardest to clear in the game.
From what i remember about this mission, it was easy after you got across the initial area. Just spam smoke grenades into the artillary guns and always always keep moving and towards your objective. Personally i found it easier to progress forwards via the left hand side of the map.

im about to put my controller through my TV - on the The Tiger level, last bit securing the German HQ!!! omg its getting on my nerves, it seems my teammates wait outfront and expect me to take the whole house - i can get to the back door by time im in the house get attacked left right and centre

lol i remember that bit. very challenging as ther are absolutely loads of enemies in this house.
Go down the right hand side and go in through the back door. Kind of a glitch here but still:after killing 5 or 6 nmy at this entrance, go half way up the stairs and stop. Throw a few grenades into the doorways and run back down the stairs for cover. A few secs later all 8 or 9 germans will come running down, for you to kill.

This game has become more tiresome then fun now
On the last section on the last british map where you have to get to the tank and plant explosives, out of about 25 attempts ive managed to get to it twice but die before i can get both bombs on, im goin left around the back and seem to get mowed down by a never ending troop of respawning germans

Start this part from the front of the house (right hand side). throw 2 smoke grenades along the house wall permineter. run, forwards for your life and with a bit of luck you should be at the wall itself, with the tank very very close. Toss a few grenades over the wall to take out the german troops in the area (use your compass) and then throw another smoke grenade right at the tank itself. Without wasting too much time (else it'll be too smokey for you to see anything ) dash over to the rear of the tank and plant your bomb.

Hummmm, that part would be really really hard without smoke. You could try exiting the HQ from the basement, run up the wall and climb over gate - approaching the tank the left - that's a much more challenging route though, requiring you to take out many many more troops, but the only way i can think of if you have no smoke
I accidently found a map clipping error on that map after I finished it on vet. I went through the game again on hardened just to relive some memories, and I went up the cliff face as normal, and then crouched down at a fake gun placement which is to your right, the moment you get to the top of the cliff.
Found that I could wander about under the map and see all the fighting above me but sadly I couldn't find a way to 'cheat' and find an exit point towards the far end of the map

ive put this game in my rental list again
as i got to the level where you get ambushed at the start, i simply for the life of me could not do it

Anyone got some tips on Hill 400 - the final bit? i cant do the first point - i can find the first mortar dude -after that i dont see them and just die - sniper rifle is kinda pointless because you dont have any realy height and have to run around a battle field
