Hi, i bought the disk for COD4 before it was available on steam. I would prefer it if i could just open it up in steam without having to put in the disk? So i want to download it onto my computer.

Is this possible? I love the convinence with css and tf2 how i just click on them without having to think about discs.

Thanks, Ben.

You can add non steam games to Steam. There's an option under the games drop down menu.
That only adds a shortcut to the game from the steam games menu, you still have to put in the disc to play it.

The only way to have a game launched from steam without needing the disc is to tie your cd key with your steam account. However, this doesn't work with the COD4 cd key. Well at least it didn't when i tried.

EDIT: See here

Thats a shame, i almost feel like selling my COD4 CD and buying it again through steam.

Theres a program called game jackal which might be worth a look at, or mini images!

I use game jackal and its superb! Works with pretty much every game you can think of that needs a cd!
