COD4 Gameplay video

Yes please

This has reminded me to get my X360 copy of COD2 off my mate who borrowed it several months ago.

Is it just me who finds the use of the term "Pre-Alpha" really annoying? I know it's sort of the correct term to use but it just bugs the hell out of me. Makes me want to scratch my eyes out.

This might be a bit of a n00b question but what does pre-alpha mean?
I gather its a stage the game is at in development, but what is the definition?

Thanks.

Doesn't annoy me any more than our resident sig nazi :)
Actually, now that you've pointed it out it is kinda  inspiring. I would prefer "Very Early Development". Then they can say Alpha and Beta. :p

See! It makes me want to scream. As for me being a Nazi... is it really that bad being in league with Gilly? :p

The Alpha testing phase comes after the developers feel they've got a content finished version of the game. They then test for bugs internally.
Once this phase is finished the game will go into beta testing where more actual users test it to death.

In this case the developers are saying 'look at what we've got and we haven't even finished it yet".

I don't even understand how they can reach that sort of engine complexity without testing. IMO it's far in to the alpha stage.

It may be that they're waiting on some small parts of content to be finished. They won't declare an 'alpha' build until all of the basic content is in. I'm guessing the engine guys finished a while ago and have had chance to play and polish.
