Cod4 MP: The Helicopter

Just keep in mind custom servers like that are not ranked, so you will never gain EXP and get better guns etc.

Very true of ranked servers, but also worth noting that if he plays on this unranked one all the time then it won't matter as all the guns will be available anyway.

Really wish the option was there to disable these options on a ranked server, would save a lot of hassle.
 
Think Choppers are bloody useless to be frank. Far too easy shot down, to say these are supposed to be superior to airstrikes is a bit of a joke tbh.

The 3,5,7 is about right but id make the chopper a lot harder to shoot down or give it more fire power maybe missiles instead of the gun.

You know when an airstrike is coming get indoors? Or is that too obvious? Stand outside your asking for it, same for the chopper, run around firing at it your going to get hit.

Chopper seems to have started shooting through buildings a lot more often now despite no way of it being able to see you. Pretty annoying really when the whole of the team ignore it!
 
Yes they suck. But they give you RPG's and you can take then down with regular ammo. I can take one down on my own with 3 clips from an M4 with double tap. Worst thing is they have better accuracy and vision than a real player. I once got him in a doorway which was like 10 foot away from a window..

It will shot you through smoke even tho there was noway it could have seen you.
 
why does everyone complain about the choppers and airstrikes so much?

the people only get them once per life, and they derserve to get them if they can survive long enough to get 7kills in a competetive enviroment, just hide from the things if they're flying past you, dont see why everyone finds it so hard
i ve had a heli 3 times in 1 round people camp to get them thats what ive found

I agree - if you get a chopper, you cant get another from the kills that chopper makes, so whoever said that was wrong.

Only in one round, which was a day or two ago, have I found that I got killed by a chopper multiple times - usually it'll get me once then you just avoid it - they really arent very accurate!
 
choppers and airstrikes are the only bad thing about the multiplayer imho.

Oh dear. You seem to have been playing cod4 with your eyes closed:

1) Weapon unlocks should be based on weapon usage not level. Its pointless giving somebody who likes to use snipers a new shotgun. Unlock new weapons based on mastery of a precious one.
2) Every class is completely unbalanced. Heavy support machine guns (m60 etc) can be used exactly like assault rifles, light machine guns are now pointless. Shotty has exactly 3 foot range (with or without sights). All guns MUST be fired with sights or else you actually are firing on a target behind you. Nade to the balls from a nade launcher is an insta kill, turning assault rifles into shottys. TOO MANY EXPLOSIONS. Because of the high respawn rate, EVERYBODY has nades, mines, c4, rocket launchers etc. Makes it incredibly dull being naded int he face every 2 seconds. Matyrdom/ Last stand - infuriating.

I really should have seperated 2 into lots of little points, but its such a doosey i left it as 1.

The game LOOKS like it should be a stealthy tacticle shooter, but plays like Unreal Tournament on army crack.

There you are, enjoying a nice game of Cod4 Free4all, and suddenly you are gunned down by chopper. The first time this happens is mildly grating. The second time is annoying.

By the 10th time, you are ready to hurl inanimate objects at the wall. On some servers it often gets so bad there is basically a queue of choppers waiting their turn and there is never really a time when there isnt one in the sky. This is a huge problem with the more open maps.

It's horifically unbalance - a flying pwnmobile basically comes along and kills everything thats outside with no input or skill on the part of the player who it belongs to.

It's totally craptastic.

I actually dont find it anoying because you can just call one in yourself if you get enough kills, but yet again the only game mode iv ever played since i got cod4 is team deathmach so i dont know about the other game modes.
 
I only find it irritating in free4all. In TDM, most of your team try and shoot it down, but in free4all, everyone seems to ignore it.

Its possible for an airstrike to kill you while indoors and im not talking about buildings with caved in rooftops, ive been killed plenty of times in solid buildings by airstrikes. Seems to be the splash damage can sometimes penetrate walls and inflict damage.
 
Choppers & Air / Arty strikes, a big pain in the rear in both COD 4 & Battlefield 2.

At least BF2's maps are big enough to be able to have some chance of avoidance.

Much as I like COD4 BF2 pwns it online in many areas.
 
Hopefully the development team are reading this and it'll be in the next patch ;)

1. UAV should stay on 3 kills, Airstrike up to 7, Heli up to 10.

2. Airstrike kills should NOT count towards Heli. So should need 3 more 'normal' kills between the two.

3. After Flyswatter or w/e you don't seem to get anything for taking a Heli down, should get some XP.

Ah if only this were to happen
