COD4 not perfectly smooth

Hi,

Just built my new rig recently, and I am very happy with it, except for COD4.. I was expecting it to be perfect... But unfortunately its not.. Even through my FPS are way over 60 with vsync off, there is some slight judder especially when moving the mouse sideways. Some maps worse than others. None perfectly smooth though. Typically I just leave vsync on but i did try a whole plethora of different settings and if the truth be known, its the smoothest with everything on right on the max 16x af, 4x aa.. vync on.. 1900 x 1200

I mean its not bad, but definately not perfect like most of my other titles.

Same deal when I've lowered all the settings to basic, the same slight judder is there, plus with my fps up over 60fps I can only assume its just the way it is? I've got this running on both Vista Ultimate SP1 and WinXP SP3 (both fresh builds as of this week) latest drivers for everything, but both O/S's are the same, everything patched upto 1.7.. Maybe cos I'm too use to it's super smooth constant 60fps on the consoles? I dunno.. But eitherway I am left a little disapointed..

Could it be my 4850drivers not up to scratch? Anyone else with a similar setup seeing the same as me? Or am i just being too fussy and i should stick to the smoother console versions... All my other titles run as smooth as a babies buttock.

Turn off the 16xaf and 4xaa, i've never found the need to enable these just to hide a few tiny jaggies. Surely At 1900x1200 it would be pretty hard to spot anyway?

Max fps F.T.W!

As I said, I tried a plethora of aa's / af's on & off on both Vista & XP in hope that vista was partly to blame. None of which seem to help. Actually Vista seems to run it that little much better. Are Nvidia gamers experiencing the same? I know a guy at work who has an 8800GT and he says his COD4 runs perfectly. But we all have different standards, so i'm not sure if a little judder to some is what is considered acceptable.

i play a 1600x1200 with everything on, 16af and 4aa.125fps.i wouldnt probably play at your res with your settings myself as i would consider it a bit to much for the card(i have a 4850 myself).this is for online play though if i was playing a single player mission i would play with either higher res or more eye candy if available.

fps wise its highly big arguement some people can play with 30 while some wouldnt even play with less than 125.also remember that certain areas are very bad for fps with lots of grass or smoke.so in certain places even the fastest card will take a big hit.

i always start set up the game with nothing on .pick your res go on map or level put in your fps then see what is going off.if its flying through it then add/turn something up/higher.till you happy with both your look of your game and fps.try and pick a very intense map / action sequence so u know what the worst in can drop too.then there wont be much off a suprise when you do hit loads off action.fps wise.i would personally play at 1600 res with the card as thats what i find is the best res overall for this.4 of my clan mates have them and most off them play at that aswell.

hope you sort the problem

It needs to be 1900x1200 otherwise its not at my screens native resolution. Anything else looks crap. But as I said earlier, even at a lower res i still get some judder with everything switched off..

Do Nvidia owners get the same?

I'm guessing yes and not everyone is as fussy as me.
