Cod4 or Unreal Tournament 3

UT. CoD4 suffers from too small maps. You keep getting shot from behind as the respawn points change. I just hate having to be constantly sweeping out 360 degrees with my mouse so that i can keep track of all my angles. This isnt a problem in Ut cos A) the maps are bigger and B) even if someone shoots at u from behind u still got time to dodge and return fire.

Cod4 does look really good, but theres too many games like it such as Bf2, Arma, Americas Army and probably loads more. Ive never played a UT game before but the videos and screens of it looks wicked. I would only buy Cod4 for online tbh and i think i can wait till Christmas to finally play it :). The more i think aobut it the more im looking forward to playing UT3 :)

COD4 is nothing like BF2
It leaves BF2 in the shade with everything.

Ah, hang on... You have not actually played either of them?

You really are missing out mate.

Ive played the Cod4 demo on my friends laptop at college, the graphics were good but the demo was so boring. Run and try not to get shot and do something else (dont want to spoil :) ). I could buy all the games now but got to prioritze my money. So im going to get UT3 in a week and then wait till Christmas day to play Crysis and Cod4 :D.

Its like who would you prefer to sleep with, Michelle Marsh or Lucy Pinder, both have their good qualities, but ultimately i would come down on the side of Michelle Marsh, both offer excellent enjoyment though. (COD4 and UT3 obviously)

UT3 for me has only evolved, but cod has revolutionised the series again after a pathetic cod3. it even beats cod2.

BTW i am comparing both games' MP. i cba with SP. but the MP on cod4 is very satisfying and rewarding.

Have you guys played the full version of UT3? I downloaded it (obviously can't say where from!) and I don't think its really anything compared with COD4, though its a very different game, I just prefer slightly more realistic shooters to the run and gun madness of UT3, though it is a very fun game.

i'd edit that post if I were you .....................

If you are talking about single player games then to be totally honest I'd say they are both crap. UT3 is not about SP at all and you might as well just forget it has a SP mode. CoD4 SP is quite good but very generic and repetitive, apart from 2 decent levels. Then there is the issue of it only lasting 4-6 hours which is quite pathetic. I'd be pretty angry if I'd have paid for either game based on the SP alone.

If you are after MP though, then it's a different story. UT3 is UT at its best. It takes the best bits from the original and 2003/4 and combines them into something a bit special. It's UT and it will always be fantastic fun. There are loads of maps and they are all really well designed.

CoD4 maps are small and not very original in my opinion. Some people say the fact you have to earn unlocks etc is a good thing, but personally I hate all that crap. If I wanted that I'd play an MMO. Stats like TF2 are fine, I just don't like the unlocks etc. Some people love it though. Saying that, the gameplay itself is really good and there is something about it that makes you want to play it more.

For me it would have to be UT3, but you really should be buying both! :)

How can COD4's maps be unoriginal?

They are supposed to be close to real life, and in that case, I think that the villages, and the terrain etc are exactly life real life... Im lost as to how you can say that with COD4

Saying it about UT3 is just ridiculous because its based in the future, so how can any say whether it looks REALISTIC.

Personally, I have been to a lot of places, including the woods, and in the woods, there is trees, and on the floor, is grass, just like real life, and I have been to towns and villages and just like in COD4, there are houses in towns and villages, but I have not been to the future, so I cannot say whether UT looks real or not?

Ok, so I am being perdantic here, but I still feel that basing a game on its looks are ridiculous.

LENGTH: Ok, so I will admit that COD4 could have been longer... Difficulty seems to be about right... Easy is just too Easy, Hard is too hard, but 2 levels in between seem about right on my own personal scale, so a challenge for me still.

Believability
Well, you got to know the caracters, you had a sense of belonging... More so I felt with the British lads than the US Marines and any loss is a big loss.
There was an overall story behind it that you dont often see. Only UnReal II had this kind of story that I can think of. Sure, UT has a story behind it, but it does not progress like COD4 or Unreal 2 and it does not draw you in like them either.

Personally, being a UT fan since day 1 I know that UT3 was never going to disapoint me, and COD1 and 2 were the only 2 games that got me into war games, so I knew I would want COD4 too, however, I have enjoyed BF2 but it has lacked something for me... I had heard the COD4 was to be like BF2, it is thankfully better than that.

The one and only thing I can criticise COD4 on is the length... Anything else is just miserable stropping out over nothing in my eyes.

SP v MP

This is a given. MP is by far one of the biggest reasons behind any game these days, and both COD4 and UT3 both deliver the goods there, but as has always been the case, andalways will be the case for me... Im crap against human players.

Leaves Bf2 in the shade?

haa....

Sorry but he's got a point

im a big BF fan, ive got BF2 & BF2 Special Forces. Not to mention BF2142 + Northern strike

neither of which i play anymore because the lack of support from EA's side is terrible. Whatever they fix, they tend to break something else. BF2 could have been such a great game, if it wasnt rushed out and buggy. There are still issues in the game that havent been addressed after all these years.

I felt COD4 was a big waste of money, and I'm glad i didn't pay for it (house mate bought it i didn't torrent it before you moan). It was far too short and while it had a storyline that was more interesting than most games nowadays it wasn't THAT great and i feel £7 for an hour of playing is a rather steep price to pay. It took about 4-5 hours to complete and isn't really anything special enough to play it through again. I haven't played U3 single player so i can't give a comparison on the single player for that one.

If your going to be buying it for multiplayer i'd say unreal is the better bet to go with, its fast paced and interesting and theres going to be hundreds of mods out for it because its such an easy engine to work with.
