COD4 - Sniper Level (No Spoilers Please)

Hey,

I've assassinated that guy and made my way to the extraction point. The problem is I'm out of pistol ammo and when the helicopters come I die. There's no way to defend all three sides.

Plus, that level has to be the longest so far so it'd be a pain to go back to the start of it. You should be able to load from checkpoints.

Any hints on where you guys sit to sniper on that level? My checkpoint is after he asks how long they'll be, therefore I have no more claymore. Damm I wish I would have put it in a better place.
 
I sat in the ferris wheel and I had no sniper ammo used my ak took me a few goes. Gernades hardly land on you aswell there if you are prone.
 
Shoot the guys just as they leave the choppers, then take as many others out, dont bother hiding it wont work, pickup a secondary weapon like an AK47 and goto the right, using the bumper car building to block their fire. As soon as your support arrives sprint to the other guy and get him in the chopper.

I found this the hardest level appart from the airstrike one later.

Oh yeah, watch out for the fudding dogs.
 
Dont be afraid to fire your sniper rifle from the hip when they get close - its surprisingly accurate. Plant claymores very close to your own location as a last measure and use grenades when theyre in the middle ground.

It's about luck more than anything, i did it without using any gun other than the sniper rifle on the second from hardest difficulty, but i'm sure that wasnt down to skill.
 
I put all my claymores around the area they run through at the start. You get larger groups of them then. For ammo, just hide over to the far left or right and wait for an enemy to get close enough for a stabbing. Steal his gun and youre sorted.
 
i had about 50 goes now on the exact same point and the closest the helicopter got was 500m quite frustrating tbh im using sniper and ak47 can shoot most of the guys dropping out of helicopters just as they land with siome amusing kills as they look like they are bouncing off the floor :) sadly the amusment doesnt last long after that lol ,amount of times ive been eaten by a dog is stupid now lol but have managed a few times to break their necks im on hardened difficulty but compared to rest of mission the hardness seems to have quadrupled on this last bit :o
anyone find it annoying that mcmillan is sat in the open totally un affected by any bullets or grenades lol
 
How the hell are you out of ammo? :p I just stay by the wheel and sniped everyone as they ran out. Took me a few times though! Playing on hard.
 
When you go up the first set of ladders on the outside of a building (You follow your commander through the first story window) - don't follow him through the window, go up through the top window(4th floor) and *cough Aladdin's cave *cough, then return down the ladders/through first floor window and join him.
 
it took me about 30 odd go's on veteran level, hiding does work. i hid behind a bumper car with the ak. nading the guys from the helicopter as they land works well
 
done on hardened and normal. frankly the game level difficulty is crap, its simply fun on normal. MOST parts of the game are the same roughly on normal and hardened and vet, its simply a few area's, like the end of the sniper mission where they just massively increase spawn numbers and frequency. for me thats not fun. actual harder AI throughout the game, with more enemies in some area's without over spawning would be much more fun. for instance the sniper mission with groups of 3 guys to take out instead of groups of 2, and a couple more wondering guys in groups that are harder to take out without them alerting everyone. to me that would be harder, not just same game with a couple of points you simply have to do 30 times before you get lucky.

as for ammo, if you're on the ferris wheel platform looking towards the spawn point there should be a couple guns on your left, somewhere by a car kind of in line with the other sniper. there were a couple of, whatever the ruski sounding sniper rifle is called. its REALLY easy to pick off 90% or more of the guys that jump out the chopper as they jump out , normally if you shoot one guy from the rope on the front end of the chopper no more will come out, they will only come out the back end, which makes it easier. then you only have the spawn point to deal with which if you get them early means you can get lucky and hit 2-3 with one shot a few times which helps. then if you hear barking unscope instantly, hit weapon change, look for the bugger and unload......... (the gun ¬_¬ )
 
Is this the same level as the dogs yeah?

Those buggers keep getting me.

They look so real too ... I keep scoping them and when the are running towards you, it looks so cool... I end of just watching in awe at *** graphics and next thing I know Im being chewed up!!!

I just cannot get the Melee timing right at all... especially if there is more than one dog.
 
Im not sure how you run out of ammo, I was firing like a madman.

I like the dogs bit in the swimming pool, if you dont shoot them they attack the approaching men as they attack. Nice touch!
 
Um you can actually hide. If you go to the right of the bumper cars and walk behind the wall which is on the right hand side of the level boundary you can hide there and wait for the bad guys to come around and find you. They just trickle in one by one and you can shoot them with whatever gun you have. Oh yeah...you should pick up a weapon or something.

***, I must have played this part a good 20 times before i made it.

I ended up going behind the feris wheel on the same little embankment as your LT, slightly further around though, Snipe as many guys out of the choppers as you can, and you can also snipe all the guys coming down the right hand side, then, switch to AK as the guys start climbing the base of the Feris wheel, pop them as they get to the top of the stairs. (When i did it, the helicopter arrived, I ran at full pace to it, only to realise that i had to carry my colleague there too! d'oh, and of course by this stage he was surrounded by people!)
 
This level just emphasises how pathetic COD4 is sometimes on Single Player. Most of the time in the game I have found it's just pot luck whether you get to the next checkpoint or not.

I've completed it on the hardest but one level, playing the hardest now.

Here's what I did for the mission:

Went in the middle for when they drop out of the choppers. Throw a couple of frags as they are all landing. The quickly run back to the bumper car area and hide round the corner. On the corner closest to the ferris wheel lay a couple of C4 packs on the ground, switch to the AK and wait for the infantry to come round. When you hear the dogs then get ready with the detonator. If you're unlucky and one get through then as above, try and take the dog out with the AK and if it gets you then hold V, works most of the time. Once the second(?) dog is down then the infantry numbers will increase, as you start to get over run then make your way to the Scot and use the tree next to him as cover. Enemies and fire will be coming in from all directions so you have to stay alert. If anyone gets too close then the Scot takes them down. Most will come from the ferris wheel area, though there'll be loads of fire coming from the centre and out to the left. When the chopper gets there throw some more grenades for cover and leg it like a mad man.
