I've been having a few problems with explorer and wmp crashing when i attempt to view or even open a folder containing some video files, leading me to think that the codecs are broken in some way.

Am using a k-lite pack at the mo,
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Many thanks.

First get rid of K-lite and install CCCP

What OS is it? Is it failing when attempting to generate thumbs for the media? Is it giving a COM error at all?

Win xp home sp2, and yes it is failing when trying to generate thumbs. As sometimes i can alter the view to list rather than thumbnails and it's fine. Though oddly many of my video files are fine, but others cause crashes

Ok, i've tried switching to cccp and it still hasn't fixed it. Seems that it's a windows prob. Bugger.

What codec pack includes windows media player classic but also installs the codecs for vista media center? Cheers in advance

Right it's a known issue.

What you have to do it go into folder settigns and theres a checkbox for Disabling thumbnail generation. That'll fix your problem.

Fantastic. It takes abit of playing around but you can now use Media player to play just about anything.
