Coded WWII message found

Surely sense would advocate to ones self that taking a coded message to the source is a tad unwise?

Sure it is obvious sense, but it just happens to be silly, going to someone without bias would have been less of a waste of time.

Imagine if the message was something huge and it could have stopped the war a year or so early if it had got through?

I saw this on the news the other week and they said it was really rare for the messages to be in code so obviously important.

If it was that important they may have used more than one pigeon, just in case :p

Be interesting to see what it says though.

Special Operations Executive.

True story that gobsmacked me.
I had to go and knock on the front door of the bloke who's house is at the back of mine to retrieve a ball.
While he went to fetch it I stood looking at a display of medals in a case in the hall and I thought 'That's a VC'
He came back and I asked him if it was and he said it belonged to his Dad which surprised me because the only VC award in Stoke was a bloke called Jack Baskeyfield who is my Dads Uncle.
He said his Dad was a member of the SOE and they were never acknowledged.
Anyway I left with two videos about SOE's (because I'd never heard of them) and one was a feature film called Carve Her Name With Pride (!).

About 3 months later I was round his house again when I'd read a newspaper article saying a VC had been sold at Sotheby's for £250,000 so he decided to lock it away somewhere.

I just thought I'd share because for me it was a fascinating story.

So why is this pigeon branded a hero? It did **** all.

I agree and didn't realise the pigeon had. I mean after all he failed. You can't even say he was shot down by the enemy. A mile from home he went down the wrong chimney. Stupid pigeon.

believe it or not, i have software running this 5 letter codegroup as we speak, it has been running for over 4 weeks now, and its around 93% complete,

just waiting on the result, sometime just before xmas hoefully

Most intresting, how come you think you can crack it, if GCHQ can't, prehaps it has been cracked, but info being withheld?

QUOTE: According to experts, it impossible to decipher this enigmatic code without its codebook.

Will be interesting to see what you get.

Soundhood: Slightly off topic, every read about the Ricky McCormick case & that coded message, not sure if it has been solved yet.
