Could you compare it to WoW?
Not really, but Ill try.
The Character creation system is very very deep. Its D&D sstyle.
The LFG is much better. Rather than spamming LFG channel, theres a handy little functionality that let's you put down what mission you want to do. You can search for players also looking for this, searching by class etc. This will be implemented into WoW in BC (They finally learnt!!! (and stole

) )
The levelling system is done D&D style. Im not going to type the D&D textbook out here, but basically you gain various feats every fourth of a level (or fifth or third), and then some major increases each level. Level cap is currently 12, takes a hell of a long time to get there.
The missions themselves - like with Guild Wars, the missions are instances, which are specific to you and your party. You don't gain XP by killing things, you gain it for your party completing objectives within a mission. Missions have several difficulty levels for each mission, some have solo levels, and the rest have easy, medium and hard. Of course the instances that state level 6 is recommended would only be "easy" on easy mode for 6 and above.
The level of maturity in this game is much higher than WoW though, it seems only older people appear to play it, and the D&D nerds are all plenty mature enough to play a game.
But tbh, they're 2 completely different games. Once you've got your teeth into DDO (and got past the 2 levels of literally just Kobold bashing) it's a very good deep game, however it's not as wuick and easy to pop in and out of like WoW is. Basically I'd recommend grabbing a trial to give it a go at least. You'll spend a couple of goes through character creation probably, but then get a grip on the game. It's a good laugh.
Btw... I play WoW and DDO so this is a reasonably unbiased post
