this is info regarding the new xbox...

it will debut a modified Win9 core,it will use a Zune HD-like hardware platform—a 'main' processor with multiple dedicated assistive cores for graphics, AI, physics, sound, networking, encryption and sensors.

the new console will be smaller and sell for less than the Xbox 360, making it ideal for “Kinect adaptation”. No launch dates are predicted.

i find that very hard to believe

It will most likely be some time before we get an official statement regarding the console, but trusted industry guru MS Nerd has spilled some details about the new Xbox, codenamed the Loop. Specifically, it will have a modified Windows 9 core, and use ARM architecture. The statement also reports that the console will be smaller and cheaper than the current model.

The MS Nerd’s report continued.
It will use a Zune HD-like hardware platform—a ‘main’ processor with multiple dedicated assistive cores for graphics, AI, physics, sound, networking, encryption and sensors. It will be custom designed by Microsoft and two partners based on the ARM architecture.

Though even the MS Nerd admits to operating “with a heady mix of rumors, tips and speculation,” multiple sources are giving the blogger the benefit of the doubt after repeated accurate assessments regarding other Microsoft products.

We’ve known for a while now that Microsoft – along with some less substantial rumors regarding Sony’s secret project – is hard at work on a new generation of consoles, thanks to some job postings from Treyarch. But, there are still so many questions about what the future holds. How will Xbox Live evolve? Will the Loop come with some form of motion control built in? Can we stop calling it the Loop already?

how come? Tech gets smaller and smaller size dosnt reflect power/possiblitys

the xbox dosnt need to be as big as it is, if they get smart with the cooling

thats my guess anyway :D afterall its just a guess but knowing MS it will be more expensive and bigger :p

This means nothing.

I could just as easily say:

"The next Xbox will be smaller, lighter and will have a teleportation device to take you to the moon".

Well the rumours have been flying around all week about this but although Microsoft are embracing ARM with there upcoming windows 8 tablets, would they take a big gamble and have a ARM core based console? killing of all backwards compatability with the current gen. It seemed IBM were nailed on to again supply the CPU with AMD supplying the gpu, with the two together on a soc design.

More rumours surfacing today as well but these seem unlikely, stating the next Xbox to be released 2012 going by a codename of project ten. I can't see it being released the same time as Halo 4 on the Xbox 360 as well as other games pencilled in for Q4 2012

I'm not sure what to think about MS going ARM. It would scupper all backwards compatibility wouldn't it? But I suppose if they have Windows 8 for tablets and phones all running ARM it would be easy to make it run on Xbox too.

yeah, but you dont release info that is normally 90% correct years in advance to thousands of people :p

but, im sure we will hear more next year since this is supposidly meant to be a Q4 2013 release as people are guessing

the 360 is OLD, so wouldnt suprise me - im still happy with mine though

The new xbox will have 20 cores each running at 1ghz but using a new central cpu hub called 'ZEN' that runs at 6ghz and features intergrated gpu equiv to a gtx260 in pc terms.
The main gpu will act in sli profile with that of ZEN for more demanding games - this part has yet to be noted but is widely tipped to be a custom Nvidia card that will fit into the slim profile of the new Xbox.

It will feature 4 ports similar to the 360 in design and an integrated HDD as standard - rumoured to be at least 1TB. MS will be launching an updated LIVE that will better support large downloads without limiting gametime, It has also been established that current dev kits hold code for cult 1986 classic 'Alex the Kid' and is hotly tipped that the master system game will be inbuilt into each new xbox free of charge.

So with Windows 8 just around the corner it is safe to say we will not see this console for a year or two yet as Windows 9 is not even announced yet.
