anyone else eagerly anticipating the arrival of this? due out in March and they are saying its a big improvement over the previous incarnations Phase One and Phase Two :)

I loved Phase 1, the sound effects were amazing. I found the game became incredibly difficult for me towards the end though. Tempted to get this if I get any free time from EVE!

Didn't like it personally because of no base building, was quite decent though I liked the way tanks took damage and had armor, was a bit annoyed though with (mobile) artillery, bit overpowered imo.

Think Company of Heros with better graphics set in the cold war. Have had my eye on this for a while, will make a change from WWII RTS's

yeah sorry i forgot to post some links and what not on the game, nice one typhoon! not sure the graphics are quite better than COH mind, but they are very similar, its nice to have RTS with no base building TBH, real life has no base building, also in codename panzers units have finite ammo, armour, etc. so its not really RTS in the sense, more tactical RTS. also made another error in original post, the release date is this month! :)

Edit: holy crap you might be right about the graphics! last time i seen much on this game it was a preview couple of years ago, man it has improved visually since then! got myself all exited about it! GRRR

if you'd ever been in the war or studied you'd know how ridiculously good anti tank was (apart from if you were british (until we got some of the m10s on lend lease and stuck a 17" in it :D)) of course the germans had the 88 mounted in the tiger appearing in africa and on the east front during the mid war which could annihilate any opposition far beyond our range. then toward late war they had the jagdpanther which was an amazing piece of kit the only problem they had was lack of field testing and rushing tanks in to production when there were serious known issues.

mobile artillery is the mutts nuts, a single tiger (lets face it, they broke down so much the may as well have been (semi-)mobile artillery :p) in a hedge row could cause some serious trouble.

I think you'll find that was a 17 pounder, 17" is Battleship terrritory - US Iowa class had 16", only Yamato/Musashi had larger at 18" :p

Tiger in a hedgerow - wot, like Michael Wittmann?

"in one short sortie his Tiger had destroyed a staggering twenty-seven enemy vehicles, including a dozen tanks - five Cromwells, two Sherman Fireflies, three Stuarts, and two commands vehicles, one a Cromwell and the other an M4A4 Sherman."

I loved phase 1 and with the new pc coming i look forward. There are some top RTS games coming: E:TW the two COH type games. Looking forward :D
