I went to Wagamamas probably last year now and I couldn't believe how poor it was. I won't go back. I've been a decent cook for years now and Wagamamas was always fine. Decent portions, food was alright. Now the prices have gone up massively, the quantity has gone down and the food is completely bland and tasteless.

I used to love it, pre-2017. Then I went to Japan, and the minute I stepped back home I went to this japanese place in Cirencester that has 4.8 star out of 5 on Trip Advisor and got a ramen and gyoza. I gave the place an honest review, but fair. Saying the gyoza was good but ramen lacked flavour besides salt. I had a tonkotsu and there was hardly any umami.

I got a DM a couple days later from the owner asking me why, I explained to her and then she asked if i could come to her shop to teach her how to make it!

Wagamama is like 1/5 on the scale, I give it a 1 because it's still food, just not good food.

One thing that Wagamama always annoy me is how they plate their Tonkatsu curry.

Why on earth do they plate their chicken UNDER a bed of rice? This is so moronic that I just can't get my head round, regardless of the argument of "you are covering it in sauce!".

Compare it to a real Japanese chain. You put the protein with a crispy outer edge ON TOP above the rice.

It makes it much harder to go out and enjoy a meal, pay a lot of money for it and come away thinking "I could have done that better at home for 1/10th the cost.

I mean I basically hate going out for a meal for that exact reason.

Plus I am as tight as a Nun's chuff about these things and that doesn't help.

I put absolutely zero value in someone waiting on me as well which doesn't help. Some people love an attentive waiter. I like to be left alone to eat my food.

On topic, the grinder from Argos is fine.

Compared to my old one actually it's a hell of a lot quieter, which is important as I'm often up before everyone else.

It's nice having a digital scale to get the amount consistent as well.

As @Raymond Lin said though, it does suffer from some of the coffee sticking to the sides of the collection cup, I guess unless you are willing to spend £300 you are gonna get that.

Thats something that happens on uber expensive single dose griders as well. Spritzing your beans with water before you grind helps with that. Its much less of an issue with a hopper based grinder.

I am not an advocate of using water to remove static, RDT. Introducing additional moisture into the grinding mechanism doesn't seem sensible to me. I rather live with a bit of static and keep a brush near by for clean up.

Its such a tiny amount that it doesn't make any difference. People who go through huge amounts of coffee do it and it has zero negative effects on parts. No issues with rust etc.

It’s the tiny amount consistently over days, months, years.

I’ve seen photos on the niche group where the burrs patina, not sure what they did but mine don’t have that.

I've had my Lagom P64 for over 3 years now and always spritzed my beens with no issues. Burrs still look like new grinding an average of 3 shots a day. Each to their own I guess.

This. I tried that & I didn't see any benefit at all. Some of the influencers on IG still spray water on their beans before grinding. Me = I'd be concerned that the steel burrs inside my MKII Eureka Mignon would rust.
