Hi,

I am looking to buy my mother a coffee machine for Christmas.

However:

I have a Classic Gaggia and I think for her it is just too messy/ time consuming/ will never get used. Can anyone offer up any alternatives? Preferably a bit better than a Braun Tassimo kind of thing?

You can currently get a Gaggia Cubika for £99 from a the website of a high street electrical retailer.

If not, then you have a few choices.

Ceramic filter cone and swissgold filter
Chemex filter pot *very nice*
Cona Vac Pot *very funky*
Presso espresso machine *very odd thing*

Depends on how much you want to spend really.

Was the Vac Pot any good?

Would an aga suffice to heat the vac pot bottom chamber? I assume it would be safe as it has a hotplate, a bit like an electric cooker.
So by a burner, you mean like a gas/ paraffin naked flame burner that you place the vac thing on?
