Hi guys im in a real dilema I just got my quad cpu and I need to decided on a mobo to suit so my first choice is EVGA 680i it has some great reviews its a high end board and its good for OC quad cores (if I decided to go that way) also it supports sli and if I go with my inicial plan of pumping it through a 40 LCD that would be very handy on the other hand appently sli doesnt work in vista yet and the new P35 boards are tearing up all competitors but no sli and there cheaper my only worry is its early days and no high end boards are out yet and my third option is wait for the x38 boards are out and just get a budget board which willl support all my kit including the quad CPU.

What to do what to do I cant decide.
So please any opinions will be a great help.:(

I'd have waited for the X38 or a top end P35 to be honest. 680i is looking very old-hat now.

How times changed. I remember not long ago, the EVGA 680i being a very capable board. Was thinking of getting one a bit ago.

I go away from the scene and decide to go down the laptop route.

Now its dated. I look around and some mobo's are too expensive. I remember when the top notch boards were around £120 lol

No-one actually needs anything better than an IP35-Pro or a P35-DS4. The 'top' boards tend to have superfluous features like 'water' blocks and WiFi cards. They usually don't clock any better, but the uninitiated tend to buy them because they just trawl through the online stores adding everything that's the most expensive.

Yea, Ive come across many people like that over the years who boast that they have a mobo worth £xxx and the cpu worth £xxx etc etc.

Its not worth it really.

Its really about overclocking. In my eyes it was down to get the best you could from the hardware you had or could afford at the time. Plus buying hardware that could be overclocked very far and bring overall system performance up on a budget.
